The Power of Storytelling in Making an Impact

Sharing My Ripple Story for the First Time

In January, I took a leap.

For the first time, I stood in front of an audience and shared my Ripple Story—a deeply personal journey that has shaped me in unexpected ways. Unlike my usual talks on professional topics, this one felt different. It was personal. And I’ll admit—I was nervous.

I had practiced hundreds of times—writing, reading, re-reading, and speaking my talk out loud. I tried everything to calm my nerves—box breathing, grounding techniques, mental rehearsals. And yet, when I stepped on stage, my legs were shaking.

But here’s what I learned: each time we take a leap, we learn.

After the talk, I reworked and fine-tuned it. I realized I had been trying to pack too much learning into the stories I was sharing. But the truth is, stories move people. They don’t need to be wrapped up in lessons—they are the lesson.

The most surprising part? After stepping off stage, my mind raced with everything I hadn’t included. But when I received feedback from the audience, they didn’t focus on what was missing. Instead, they shared specific stories that had resonated with them—moments that stuck with them, inspired them, or made them reflect.

The stories made an impact.

And that was my biggest takeaway: trust the power of storytelling.

The Women in Pharma (WiP) community created an incredible space for sharing and connection, and I’m beyond grateful to Miriam Kenrick, Sarah Sowerby, and everyone who made it happen. A huge thank you as well to Emma Wainer for her presence and support.

Giving this talk was a moment of vulnerability and growth, and I’d love to share it with you. You can watch my Ripple Talk here:

This experience reaffirmed something I’ve been reflecting on:

The most meaningful ripples start with a leap—the decision to step forward, speak up, and ask, “What if I don’t?”

So here’s to taking that leap. To sharing our stories. To trusting that even when our legs are shaking, the impact will be real.

Have you ever taken a leap that felt vulnerable but was worth it? I’d love to hear your story.
